Online Test Series Programme for Preliminary Test
As part of Omega IAS Study Circle endeavor to reach out to students who are unable to be take the tests in Delhi, we have introduced Online Test Series programme for the Preliminary Test since 2012.It runs parallel to the Classroom Test Series programme, consisting of 17 weekly objective type tests on GS and CSAT. It begins in the month of January and ends in July, a month before the Prelim exam. The institute in its efforts to bridge the gap between classroom test series and online test series would provide free videos of the explanatory session of the tests by specialist teachers or detailed explanatory notes.
The online test series programme will help students to attempt the exam at the same time as the other classroom students, whereby inculcating the necessary simulation to take the UPSC exam. Students will learn to be more disciplined, time conscious and compete better. With the help of the online examination, a student from outside Delhi would be able to evaluate his performance not only instantly after the exam, but can also compare his overall position with all the other students who take the test series.

Test Series for Preliminary Test
Omega IAS Study Circle has been conducting a “Test Series”, consisting of 17 weekly objective type tests on GS and CSAT. It begins in the month of January and ends in July, a month before the Prelim exam followed by explanatory sessions by the specialist teachers or detailed explanatory notes.
The “Test Series” confers multiple benefits on the candidates. It will induce a sense of regularity with candidates’ preparation. It will enable the candidates to fine tune their GS and CSAT preparations. It will guide them to develop better understanding of the concepts, basic principles and factual aspects of the Prelim subjects. To provide a comparative analysis of the candidates’ performance, the Institute will publish on its website every week, ranks, total scores, negative marks net scores obtained by the candidates in the weekly tests.

Test Series for Main Exam
General Studies Main and Optional Subject Test Series
The Main Examination is intended to assess the overall intellectual traits and depth of understanding of candidates rather than merely the range of their information and memory. The nature and standard of questions in the General Studies papers will be such as to test a candidate’s general awareness of a variety of subjects, which will have relevance for a career in Civil Services. The questions are likely to test the candidate’s basic understanding of all relevant issues, and ability to analyze, and take a view on conflicting socio- economic goals, objectives and demands.
The candidates must give relevant, meaningful and succinct answers.
The scope of the syllabus for optional subject papers for the examination is broadly of the honours degree level i.e. a level higher than the bachelors’ degree and lower than the masters’ degree.
Accordingly, Omega IAS Study Circle, with the vast experience at its disposal, is able to guide the students writing the Main exam in a comprehensive manner so that their answer writing skills are pruned, polished and made exam-oriented.
To provide the students with an exact simulation of the UPSC CSE Main Exam, we have introduced the Answer–cum–question booklet format as is the actual practice in UPSC CSE Main Exam.
Questions are framed in such a manner as to judge the depth of understanding of candidates relating to the topic in question.
The content of the answer is more important than its length, is the oft repeated instruction in the UPSC CSE Main Exam question papers and it is our constant endeavour to check and evaluate the candidates’ answer scripts according to the above adage. Feedback is usually written in the answer scripts wherever required.
Evaluation and feedback system is designed to provide relevant insights and feedback to each candidate as per his/her performance.
Exhaustive discussions by the experts/teachers are held every week after the test to provide a roadmap of ideal approach requiring conceptual clarity and interdisciplinary interlinking on the topics asked in the test series. Brain-storming and doubt-clearing on the topics where more clarity is required, is the natural outcome of such discussions. Model answers are provided to the students during such discussions and such model answers are also sent to the students taking postal test series.
(Number of tests in GS or Optional Subjects may vary & would be announced before the course begins)
When do we offer Main Exam Test Series?
General Studies – Twice in a year, once from (April – June) and another from (September – November). Number of tests will approximately be 4 (sectional) + 4 (comprehensive). For the year 2015 the Main Exam test series will begin in August 2015.
Optional Subjects – Twice in a year, once from (February – June) and another from (September – November). Number of tests will approximately be 4 (sectional) + 2 (comprehensive).
As of now Optional Subject test series is available in Public Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Commerce, Anthropology, Economics and Geography in the month of June. All the subjects offer about 6-8 mock tests.
Postal Main Test Series for GS and optional subjects becomes available when the classroom test series is announced. Postal Main Test Series is not available on a stand-alone basis.
